Blocking unwanted messages

Has anyone had to use the block feature to keep a member from sending you messages? Did they go register under another name and continue contacting you? I wish there was a way for the system to block them without actually sending them a message that you have blocked them. They could try to access it and it just give them an error message or something. How do you deal with someone you're not interested in....do you ignore them, send them a "not interested message", or do you block them?
